Orleans Mystery
« on: December 21, 2012, 07:04:58 pm »
Someone posted the attached image on the Internet questioning what it's all about.  Apparently, this stone monument is located along the Monon RoW just east of Orleans.  The photo was taken in 2006.  Anyone know if this is a Monon-related story?

Ron,

Here's the best I can figure out:

Line 1: MELBO?N (might be MELBORN)
Line 2: ??RWIN (might be CORWIN)
Line 3: ORLEANS
Line 4: INDIANA
Line 5: SUN NOV

I have no idea what the missing charactes are.  I thought it might have something to do with a train-related accident.

George, someone from Orleans was inquiring about this post.  Do you happen to remember if anything else was mentioned about where this stone might be located, other than East of Orleans?  Wonder how far off the right of way it might be?  Might be worth a side trip sometime.

Rick,

I didn't record any more information than that, so I can't help out.

I knew it was a shot in the dark at this late stage, but thanks anyway.
