JUNE 26, 1940 — MARCH 1, 2013

BEDFORD — Phillip Wayne Adams, 72, of Bedford died at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, March 1, 2013, at the IU Health Bedford Hospital.

Born June 26, 1940, in Lincoln County, KY, he was the son of John H. and Lillie M (Pemberton) Adams. He married Hazel L. Guthrie on October 27, 1961, and she survives. He retired from CSX Railroad. He attended Hillcrest [not allowed]ian Church, was a life member of the United Transportation Union and a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

Survivors include his wife, Hazel of Bedford; one daughter, Sheila Myers and her husband Randy of Fayeteville; one son, David W. Adams of Bedford; two sisters, Jewell Baker of Oolitic, and Verla J. Winnings of Phoenix, AZ; three grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters: Julia Hicks and Marcia Hirtz.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday, March 4, 2013, in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the hour of service on Monday, March 4, 2013, at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
