Shower Brothers Bloomington

Here's a couple of postcards of Shower Brothers in Bloomington.  Sorry for the poor quality.  I believe it was close to McDoel Yards.  There's railroad tracks showing in the foreground of the first image and a right-of-way in the background of the second image.  I don't know the time frame of these images.

George, Shower's factory was downtown, about three or four blocks north of the passenger station.  The building, or at least part of it, is still there.  I think it's been converted to offices and such.  / Ron

I did the engineering for that building's renovation into office space sometime in the '90's. Spent full a summer communting every day down to Bloomington inspecting the structure. As I recall, so much of the wood roof turned out to be rotted that virtually the entire thing was removed and replaced.

My grandfather worked there making furniture in the '20's.

This was just released in paperback. My copy is on order; I haven't received it yet, so I can't comment on the quality of the writing or photographs.
