Googling Again, Shirley.

Did a google search on Bedford, In. images and found this. Once again, no mention of photographer or date. Looks to be on straight track, maybe the Sand Pit wreck?  Vern @ G.

As far as dating the pictjure it would be after 1897 as the CI&L was apparently quick to change the reporting marks from L.N.A.&C. The annual reports gave how many pieces of roling stock on which they had changed the initials on in the early years of the CI&L. There appears to have been an effort to get rid of the L.N.A.&C. as quickly as possible after the reorganization.

If it's the Sand Pit wreck, it happened on June 8, 1912.  If the photo is from the Horse Shoe Bend wreck, that happened on March 17, 1906.  / Ron

PS, as information, I've attached a list of Monon train accidents, details gleaned from the records of Zeke Kauffman photos housed in the Indiana State Historical Society, many of which we also have in our archives.  This is by no means a complete list of Monon accidents, only those of which Zeke had photographs in his collection.
