F3 83A with Farr air grille

I'm probably the only member who doesn't know this...but...what's the story on F3 83A having its screening replaced by Farr Air grilles?  Does ITM own this unit?

That is really a Milwaukee unit painted as a Monon unit.

Some of the units involved in the 1951 Monon depot wreck got new grills when rebuilt.

Thanks, guys.  I'm rusty on my diesel spotting, so, was the Milwaukee unit a phase IV(?) F3 or actually an F7?  I am planning on stopping by ITM before or after our convention to take photos of 83A....

The ITM actually has two units painted up:

83A is an F7A built by EMD in 1949 and is an ex-Milwaukee Road unit.
96C is an FP7A built by EMD in 1950 and is also an ex-Milwaukee Road unit.

96C has not ran in quite some time - it has a bad flywheel. 83A is pretty beat up on the outside and needs some body work and a fresh coat of paint but the rest of it is in good shape.

They also have another F7A that they are getting close to working service and an F7B on the property. One of the long time rumors regarding these two would be that they would be put into the Black & Gold of the Monon such that they would have "freight" and "passenger" sets.

Thanks, Ryan.  Top notch info.  Was browsing and just saw a photo posted by Stew of 81-B in 1952 with the Farr grille.  Right behind is a unit with screening.  Good stuff!  Thanks to everyone for so being so helpful and friendly!
